Fencing & Decking
Posts, panels, pickets and deck boards along a run. The post count is sections plus one, which is the mistake most estimates make and the one these tools avoid.
Which one do you need?
Fencing is a counting problem before it is a measuring one: posts are always one more than the sections between them, corners share a post, and every gate adds one. The fence calculator does that arithmetic across several runs at once, in panels or in posts and pickets. Decking is a coverage problem instead — board width plus the gap, times the board length — and ends in a board count rather than an area.
Calculators
Fence Calculator
Posts, panels, pickets and rails for a fence run. Counts posts as sections plus one, shares a post at each corner, and takes gate openings out of the fenced length.
Decking Calculator
How many deck boards a deck needs, from board width and length with the gap between them added to the width only, plus a waste allowance for the cuts.
Common projects
Put up a fence, board a deck surface.
